Unlock Process

Prerequsite: Map 9-D must be unlocked.

Progress through Map 9-D until the special Tile has been reached, at which point the player will be unable to proceed. Next, enter the partner select menu in Story Mode, and select Compassion (Ascendant - 8th Seeker) by tapping her icon. Hold down on her illustration on the left, and release after it has turned completely white.

Continue progressing through the Map until the Hard Gauge is activated upon entering a play. The player needs to intentionally achieve Track Lost repeatedly until they reach another special Restriction Tile at the bottom of the Map. The only playable song will be Lament Rain, which will now feature beeping SFX and a red trace resembling an electrocardiogram trace near the end of the song. The spikes in the trace contain hidden notes[note 3], which must be tapped to trigger a song transition. The song must be restarted if more than 5 of these hidden notes are missed.

If the song transition is successfully triggered, a special outro with glitch-like anomaly effects will play, leading into Designant., which continues on the same difficulty as Lament Rain. The play will use the Normal Gauge, and the Pause button will be disabled. Playing the chart to completion will unlock it permanently

If Designant. has already been unlocked on a lower difficulty or on another device, the player needs to play Lament Rain on the same difficulty.

After Playing

The text Ascension Witnessed will be displayed in the Results screen after the first play. Upon pressing the Back button, story entry 20-7 will play, and the game will return to the title screen. The title screen illustration will have changed to one of Insight.

Experience

This effect is triggered when playing Designant. for the first time.

On the first playthrough, the song jacket is hidden, the difficulty is marked with a ?, and both the song title and artist are displayed as ???. The background is also animated throughout the entire track.

Upon entering the buildup section to the final drop, nearly all user interfaces will disappear[note 4] , accompanied by intensifying background visual effects. Red sky notes[note 3] will also appear on a red trace during the song. Just before the final drop, the true difficulty level, song title, and artist will be revealed.

This effect can be re-experienced by meeting different conditions depending on whether the terminal song of the same Pack is unlocked.

• If the song has not been unlocked, play Designant. with any unsealed Partner. The red notes will appear again.
• If the song has been unlocked, story entry F-5 must be unlocked to experience Designant. again.

Play Designant. with a sealed Compassion (Ascendant - 8th Seeker) or [show spoiler]. The red notes will not appear.

In subsequent plays, the song name and artist will be visible as usual. These effects are visible during offline play.
